Is this where to begin?

So the first post of the blog is published and here it is. A difficult one to start with, trying to explain the type of images I am currently taking, trying to explain what work flow I use and why it’s best for me, not to mention the literature that is available to read, not only about the capturing process but the also the digital dark room process that seems as important as the original raw file.

The blog has been designed around the principles of so many others; it’s a radio for speaking my thoughts and ideas, it’s a record of where I am at at the moment in the vast world of amateur photography. As it all develops and the content is published I hope that readers not only find articles of interest, but may pick up some ideas, may use references from within to guide them in their determination to produce the image that hits the money.

My interest in photography has developed over the years, however I began to take the matter seriously about two years ago and after reading so many interesting articles and being inspired by so many different photographers and developers, the magnetism of the whole subject drew me in. Creativity is something I am developing, a tool that I cannot just pick up and use when it suits me; rather use it and learn from the many mistakes that I have made along the way. Making mistakes not only seems part of the learning process but inevitable in all the different subjects I look into. However, by making the mistakes and learning from them seems to be the best tool I have at the moment. As all of this has developed and I try to take not only my experiences further, but my qualifications also; the equipment to do the job right has also grown. This, I will be able to explain in detail as the site develops.

So, two years down the line, I am starting to get some tangible results, starting to see the type of subjects I am interested in and under the guidance of a great Tutor, I am starting to learn the creative side and the fact that self criticism plays an important part of this process.

So the main aims are simple to me now, however have taken me some time to realise and then achieve. I like many have spent many along night looking for the best way to control my work flow, learn the in’s and out’s of darkroom processing. Understanding the differences between Lab Channels, RGB and CMYK colours and why profiles are so important for printing. Many a night spent reading literature, following tutorials and getting that feeling when it all goes well, that so many photographers talk about.

Has the knowledge increased? Yes, certainly; and although guided where necessary, having the passion needed to produce the images I want to learn from has been a tremendous trip, mixed with emotion, some good, some bad. However, the end result must make it better, it must mean I am developing and starting to put the immense jigsaw together. Or does it?

So, lets kick it all off and start posting the articles that I want others to read, the images that I want others to see and develop the creative portfolio that can be published on the main site. So, if you have a minute, grab a brew, sit back and read some more and now and again click over to the portfolio and see the updates to the galleries. The real journey is only now beginning, but with the uncertain paths that are ahead, the challenge becomes that more inviting.
